December 10, 2009 – On a beautiful Saturday morning, September 3rd, a small group of SERVE ladies and I took an adventure to Radford, VA to a nice Methodist Church to volunteer for Project Linus.
Project Linus is a nationwide organization that aims to give ill, traumatized, and at risk children the warmth and comfort of a new, handmade blanket or afghan. This non-profit organization started in 1995 and since has delivered over 3 million blankets to children in need!
Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug.
For about 3 hours, Gabby, Danielle, Analise, Hiwote, and I made 15 “knot blankets” for the Radford Chapter to distribute and it was truly a delight. Personally I’ve had experience making knot blankets so it was even more fun doing it for such a good cause! Not only did we girls get to bond but we enriched the lives of 15 children and put a smile to their faces!
